I love the feeling of falling in love with a restaurant. It’s a lot like falling in love with a woman.
It all begins with an introduction. Perhaps a friend sets you up. or introduces you without any intention at all. You happen upon her online (hehe) or perhaps you meet her in the street. You feel a spark, you decide to get to know her.
You take her on a first date. The awkward, oh my god, what am I in for moments take place. The excitement, the trepidation. It is an experience. Some times it goes well, other times not so much.
Occasionally you know that whatever relationship forms, it will be brief… But fun. Other times you fall lustfully in love, and the affair is destined to last for a very long time.
The difference however between a woman and a restaurant, is absence of a monogamous relationship with a restaurant. When one cheats on a restaurant there won’t be any crying, any heartbreak, or any dishes thrown across the room. No one at my first love Petite will be upset that I fell in love with Taste last week, and no one will hold that against me.
Taste’s atmosphere, its people, its wine, its food, and its size (apparently I have a type when it comes to restaurants – small), romanced me. They made me get that chill that only comes from a great woman or equally great food. They flirted with me with their home made Pretzel Bites. Batted their eyelashes at me with their Blend Your Mind wine theme. Excited me with their Duck Fat Popcorn. Caressed me with their Caramelized Scallops & Pancetta. Satisfied me with their Aged Cheddar and Parmesan Mac & Cheese. Left me wanting more with their Cappuccino Flavored Cupcake Icing.
In short, Taste proved to be a delightful first date, which I believe has lead to my first piece of food porn. Thank you to Brendan, Jason, and the entire Taste family for inviting me to preview your new Spring Menu.
