The contestants must go through a pre-selection process, which takes place on August 29 and 30. In this phase the 15 contestants will present their menu creations to a panel of judges, who will select the top 4 participants that will move forward to the Finale on the 18th.
The dishes will be judged based on presentation, creativity, taste, ingredients, food cost and time of execution and the winner will receive the title of “Cravings’ Next Best Dish” and a grand prize of $2,000.
The audience will be able to taste sample sized versions of the competing dishes and will vote for the “People’s Choice Award.” The winner of this category will receive a $500 cash prize.
All proceeds from this event will go towards Brown Bagging it for Calgary’s Kids, a small grassroots organization that provides nutritious lunches to 1800 kids in Calgary schools and programs every day. $1 feeds a hungry child. For more information or donations visit http://brownbaggingit.org/
