Petite, the little restaurant that had Calgary diners lovestruck, will reopen in October in a brand new, slightly larger location on Calgary’s famous 17th avenue.

On February 14, 2011, Petite Restaurant regrettably notified Valentines day diners that reservations for the evening were canceled due to a fire during preparation for the evenings menu. Faced with the tough decision to return to their previous location or look for a new location big enough to handle the demand for CIA trained chef Jared Alvey’s creations, Petite chose to open in the 140 seat 17th avenue location formerly know as Il Giardino.

“We are so excited to be opening in a location that is slightly larger, but that will maintain the intimate experience Petite was based on,” said Deirdre Malone, Former Petite General Manager and newly appointed Promotions Manager. “Obviously, the original Petite was our first love, but the new Petite will be even better. We will have a 100 seat restaurant, a 40 seat lounge, and access to 150 parking stalls, which will allow us to serve the Upscale Modern European Infusion food that made us popular, and will also make us the perfect pre-event/hockey dining venue.”

“I am excited to have a much larger, more efficient kitchen, to work out of. It will allow us to take our food to the next level, and serve menu items that we previously could not, due to the restrictive size of the old Petite’s kitchen,” said Alvey. “It will still be an open kitchen concept, but with a much better design, and even better food.”

The new Petite will ‘step it up a notch’ by allowing for late night dining, Saturday and Sunday brunch menus, tasting menus, as well as Calgary Foodies Set Menu Sundays. “We are extremely happy to not just bring Petite back to life, but to have the opportunity to create a whole new experience based on the reputation and food that Calgarians already know and love,” reiterated Malone. “The future is bright for Petite.”
