Of all the many restaurants along Macleod Trail, there are some excellent choices for people looking for a quick lunch time bite, an after work dinner or a good meal and drinks with friends. The newest restaurant to pop up in the Smugglers Inn complex with Bolero & Open Sesame, Tango Bistro is a ultra modern and interesting new restaurant. Following the new tapas trend for small plates meant to be shared, Tango Bistro offers up a tasty alternative to the regular lunch as well as some great options for dinner.
There super modern decor and clean lines are inviting and a far cry from the old dark decor from it’s “Smugglers” days. A small but comprehensive menu offers something for all tastes. One of the more unique menu options is their “Business lunch in under an hour”, a three item lunch with the option of a “shot” of dessert, all in under an hour! An appetizer of either garlic soup or naan bread and two dips, a main of perfectly cooked salmon, steak flatbread, bacon wrapped chicken sandwich or pasta and an option of 2 different salads, parm frites with aioli or honey glazed beets and carrot. The shot of dessert changes each day, and could be anything from, banana cream, key lime pie or creme brulee. Other menu items include pulled pork poutine, pecan crusted goat cheese, a variety of flat breads and braised lamb shoulder. They also have an extensive wine and cocktail list. A definite must try if you are looking for a quick delicious lunch or a fun place to have after work drinks and appetizers with your friends.
