We were approached by one of the representatives of Durbanville Hills Winery to test their wines and promote an excellent initiative called “Wine to Water”. We tried their Cabernet Sauvignon which was great with a BBQ steak and Sauvignon Blanc a refreshing white wine perfect for summer.
The following is a brief press release explaining the initiative and where the wines are available in Alberta. It is available only until the end of the week so stock up for the long weekend 🙂
DURBANVILLE HILLS JOINS FORCES ONCE AGAIN WITH WINE TO WATER TO LAUNCH ITS CLEAN DRINKING WATER INITIATIVE
IN ALBERTA TO HELP THOSE THAT NEED IT MOST SOUTH AFRICAN WINERY, SHAPED BY ITS COMMITMENT TO ENVIRONMENTAL SUSTAINABILITY, PARTNERS WITH WINE TO WATER – AN ORGANIZATION FOUNDED BY 2009 CNN HERO OF THE YEAR, DOC HENDLEY
Toronto: Durbanville Hills, the South African eco-friendly winery renowned for producing top quality wines, today announced that it will once again partner with Wine to Water – the non-profit organization focused on providing clean water to people all over the world – for the June 1st launch of its new initiative in Alberta. Durbanville Hills will donate a portion of its bottle sales at all Calgary Co-op Wine & Spirits stores directly to Wine to Water.
Durbanville Hills, one of the first wineries to recover, purify and reuse ‘waste’ water at its winery, launched its first Wine to Water initiative in Ontario last summer at the LCBO, which raised close to $9,000 for the charitable organization. This Summer, Alberta residents will have the opportunity to be involved in this effort by purchasing a bottle of Durbanville Hills Sauvignon Blanc or Cabernet Sauvignon varietals at Calgary Co-op Wine & Spirits stores between June 1st and June 30th, 2011. Of every bottle sold, $1 will be donated directly to the Wine to Water organization.
“We are thrilled to renew our alliance with Wine to Water and bring awareness of this worthy cause to our loyal drinkers and wine enthusiasts in Alberta,” said Durbanville Hills Brand Manager at PMA Canada Julia Gradwell. “We are so grateful to Ontarians for their support during our first initiative and we hope to one day expand our efforts across Canada to help build awareness on the broader issue of water sustainability and the global community’s responsibility to ensure clean water is available to all people.”
